For B.Tech, BCA, BSc IT & MCA students · Self-paced · Mentor-reviewed

Do your internship by shipping a real product to the cloud.

The Forward Deployed Engineer Internship teaches you to take a real problem all the way to a live system, the way AI companies build software now. You finish with a product running on AWS, a signed hours log for your college, and a certificate if you earn it.

  • Plan a real SaaS product: your own idea, or our brief
  • Build it with React, Node.js/TypeScript and a real database
  • Deploy it on AWS serverless with infrastructure as code (CDK)
  • Test it, monitor it and keep it running
  • Use Claude Code across the whole lifecycle, the way AI companies now build software

Why Forward Deployed Engineering

A Forward Deployed Engineer sits with the user, writes the spec, builds the full stack, deploys it and owns it in production. AI now writes much of the code, so these are the skills that count.

What FDE roles pay

Companies pay well for engineers who can take a problem all the way to production. Here is what the role pays, from published job postings and verified salary reports.

Figures as reported on 4 October 2026. Most are for engineers with experience, and pay depends on the company, city and your skills. They show what the role pays in the market. They are not a salary KLODR pays or promises, and KLODR does not offer placement.

You ship: Repo, first deploy, budget alert

  2. Week 1

    Prompt engineering & AI-SDLC

Prompt patterns, writing specs, CLAUDE.md, plan → build → review loops, token-efficient sessions, reviewing and testing AI-written code

You ship: Written spec and CLAUDE.md for your project

  3. Week 2

    Web foundations

    HTML, CSS, JavaScript, then TypeScript

    You ship: Responsive static page

  4. Week 3

    React

Components, state, forms, routing, data fetching

    You ship: Project frontend

  5. Week 4

    Backend

Node.js + TypeScript, with Python or Java as an alternate path

    You ship: REST API

  6. Week 5

    Databases

PostgreSQL/MySQL vs MongoDB/DynamoDB; modelling by access pattern

You ship: Schema and data layer

  7. Week 6

    AWS serverless

Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, S3, CloudFront, Cognito, IAM least privilege, pay-per-use costs

You ship: API live on AWS

  8. Week 7

    Infrastructure as code

AWS CDK in TypeScript, dev/prod environments, GitHub Actions CI/CD

    You ship: One-command deploy

You ship: Test suite and dashboard

  10. Week 9

    Maintenance & security

Secrets, patching, backups, incident runbook, monthly cost review

    You ship: Runbook

  11. Week 10

    Capstone

Demo to mentors and peers; final assessment

    You ship: Live product

Every week: get the most out of Claude

Taught in week 1, then used on each week's work: skills for your deploy steps, hooks for your tests, and your own plugin by the capstone.

  • Prompt engineering

Give context, constraints and examples; ask for a plan before code; turn vague asks into specs Claude can build from.

  • Token optimisation

Keep CLAUDE.md lean, point to exact files, clear or compact context between tasks, send searches to subagents, and match the model to the job.

  • Skills

Package repeatable know-how, like your deploy steps or review checklist, so Claude loads it only when the task needs it.

  • Hooks

Run your own scripts at set points, such as formatting after every edit or blocking risky commands, so checks happen every time.

  • Plugins

Install and share bundles of skills, commands, agents and hooks, so a whole team works with the same setup.

Self-paced, but never on your own

Bring your own SaaS idea or take a real brief from us. Mentors are the engineers who build and run KLODR's systems for businesses.

  • A weekly live group call to walk through the module
  • A mentor review of every weekly deliverable on GitHub
  • A 1:1 project check-in every two weeks
  • A free scoping session if you bring your own SaaS idea
  • Prompt-engineering clinics to review your specs and prompts

The certificate is earned, not given

The KLODR certificate goes to interns who score 85% or more overall on a three-part final assessment.

  • 50%

    Practical build

Add a new feature to your own live app within 48 hours: spec, code, tests, deploy, dashboard

  • 20%

    Online test

Web, backend, databases, AWS serverless, CDK, security and cost basics

  • 30%

    Mock FDE interview

A client scenario, a system design, and a walkthrough of your own code

  • Score 85% or more: you earn the KLODR certificate.
  • Below 85%: one free re-attempt within 30 days.
  • Finish the hours and you get a completion letter for your college, whatever your score.

Questions students ask

Is this too advanced for a 2nd-year student?

Weeks 2 and 3 start from HTML and CSS. If you can write a loop in any programming language, you're ready.

Can I do it alongside college?

Yes. It's self-paced, about 12–15 hours a week for the core track, with one live call a week.

Will my college accept it for internship credit?

You get a joining letter, a weekly hours log signed by your mentor, and a completion letter. Check your college's hour requirement and pick the matching track.

What if I score below 85%?

You get one free re-attempt within 30 days. If you finish the hours, you still get a completion letter for your college, just not the KLODR certificate.

Can I build my own startup idea?

Yes. A mentor runs a free scoping session with you to cut the idea down to something you can ship in time, and you keep the product and the code.

Do you guarantee a job or placement?

No. You leave with a live product, real deployment experience, and a certificate if you earn it.
